The LaserStars projector (review elsewhere on this forum) planetariumsasahobby.freeforums.net/thread/53/laserstars-review?page=1 is a unique projector with a 5 mw green laser directed into a hologram and projecting out thousands of pinpoint green stars moving seemingly aimlessly across whatever surface the projector is aimed at. The effect is impressive on a dome and I use it as a welcome projection when I do a laser light show. The hologram breaking up the light of the small 5 mw laser brings the light level into the "safe" range and yet the phrase "THIS IS NOT A TOY" and "DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE PROJECTOR" are displayed prominently on all sides of the box. The laser is listed as a class IIa which is like a bar code scanner. Since this is advertised as a night light among other things, I would imagine that the output after being broken up by the hologram grating would put the output in the safe range. However one cannot be overly confident and should treat all laser output as potentially dangerous and not look directly at it. The blue cloud projector is powered by LED's and thus totally safe. The next level are projectors made for disco or DJ's and most are made by American DJ www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/american-dj-micro-galaxian-ii-laser/j28752000000000 More to come.
