I love this kind of thing and you excel at it. Beautiful work as usual. What is the focal length of those lenses? Looks like from an 8mm or 16mm projector. Should project a nice sharp image. Hi Ron - it is a Kalart Automar 2 inch f1.6 lens from surplus shed - not sure what they originally came from.

I have done a couple of mini shows! A total of 10 attendees over two sessions (which includes my wife attending both!) As always, I ran out of time to properly set things up as I would like them but for obvious reasons this year's set up is leap forward on previous years. The ZKP1 projects a really lovely sky - I need to start making some constellation outline projectors -any bright ideas Ron The set up is supposed to be a celebration of the centenary. We had a few slides about the wonder of Jena, then sunset and a few constellations (very basic) then a short film. It feels good to have a dome again (albeit attic dome is always temporary). (the crescent is venus and just an entrance effect from a 35mm slide projector - I quite like it even though it is out of all proportion)

The video part of the show was a short film I cobbled together from internet clips - just images of the sun from various observatories and aboriginal art set to 'set the controls for the heart of the sun' by PF. The best bit is the accelerated time lapse from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory film which ends in the October 2003 solar storm.

This year's show also features another new addition - an ednalite pointer - so much more refined than a red dot! Obviously, in a nod to Sir Gare's podcast I had to insert a colour gel filter into the pointer to make a GREEN ARROW!

The Green Arrow Society approves of your umm green arrow Duke of Cornwall! (I'm getting way more into cults now lol)
Congrats on your shows, very multi-media!

View AttachmentYes, I believe the Ednalite pointer with a green filter should be the standard for home planetarians. It so reminds me of the Adler Zeiss back in the 50's. I so love those trees. You should be able to keep that dome up all year round.

Finally had some time to just tinker for a while under the dome. A couple of shots of the star field with the projector illuminated with a flashlight.

That should be a permanent attic exhibit.
I guess there was no support to set up the big dome this year.

Saddest day of the year - time to pack away attic dome . Supports removed, dome lowered to the floor and sections packed away. On the positive side, the attic is also my workshop and work can start properly on the constellation projectors and other improvements for its return in the winter!
