Just received this email:
Hi, Ron.
I'd like to work on a permanent planetarium and would greatly appreciate learning from you about some key, basic, physical (and perhaps cost) issues.
Such info would include consideration of dome size an height and the actual free building space needed to enclosed it. Possible approaches to dome materials, etc.
My financial resources are a bit limited, so I'd likely need to find an existing building that would also include personal living space.
Anyway, would you be willing /able to help me become a bit knowledgeable about such things? Or perhaps even any building Plans you might have? I'd have to do as much diy as possible.
While I'd like to have a 24' dome, it's more likely that it would have a diameter of 20'.
Thank you for considering.

Yes, I would be happy to help. I would like to take this over to planetariumsasahobby.freeforums.net as there is information there that I believe will help you as well as other dome builders that can help. You mention that you would like to find a space with living space as well as room for your planetarium. Are you planning on staying in the Davenport area? I know that in the New York and Chicago areas there are commercial storefronts with living space behind. Do you want to buy or rent? The only reason I mention this is that most homes do not have the ceiling height required for a dome of even 20 ft. diameter. For a 20 ft. dome I would expect a minimum of 12 ft. height. I will set up a thread at the web site.
