Many years ago I acquired a rather shabby Apollo III projector. No control systems, wiring mangled but most of the important bits still there. As discussed on the old Observatory Central forum, I have been refurbishing all the mechanical parts as my Life and rotating hobby interests (Attention Deficit Hobby Disorder) allowed.
Today I reached a milestone with the first onboard testing of the new controller. The new control system is comprised of a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running a python program I wrote, DC gear motors in place of the old AC motors and assorted MOSFET modules and voltage regulators.
The Raspberry Pi can be controlled remotely using just about anything that can run the commercial (free) VNC Viewer program (phone, tablet, laptop).
Definitely still at the lash up stage, but real progress has been made.
pictures to follow.

Thank You Lee for these posts. It gives me hope.
I thought I had a bit of everything in my collections of "good junk" but you win the prize with a gas pump.

Turns out there is a hobby more expensive that planetarium projectors. Petroliana - , old gas pumps, signs, globes and in my case, a 1920’s gas station I am putting in the back yard. Hence my hobby disorder.

I find that quite fascinating. You should do a thread about it. I will create a new sub-forum on "other hobbies".

1 The original image in portrait. 2 The image rotated 90 degrees in photoshop. They enlarge the correct way. What I don't understand is why your sideways pictures enlarge the proper perspective. Perhaps it has something to do with the file size. If you would send me the original picture files to my email I will try and find the problem and get them posted properly. I will also clear this junk from your thread once things are right.
