Before the original OC went to cyber heaven there were a lot of threads on various states of our individual "dream big" planetarium plans. Who knows if all of that original material will ever see the light of day ever again but I will rebuild the posts from time to time as I have time. The idea of "moving backwards" from this time, or perhaps the idea is to move in both directions is the best idea as it would both show what new is being accomplished as well as what has gone before. I personally have reached the end of my "dream big" period so my moving forward will be limited to small additions in projectors etc., to support newly minted programs. Where I am in my planetarium hobby can be summed up in a single picture. Being involved with cameras and lenses all my life I learned early on that if your doing architectural photography, especially interiors, a wide angle lens is a must. It makes the rooms look bigger and more useful then they really are. This wide angle shot from my control desk out into the planetarium chamber has been mistaken for a sixty foot dome with a Zeiss VI in the center location. In reality it is a thirty foot dome with a Minolta IIB in the center. Don't get me wrong, I am exceeding grateful and happy for what I have been able to accomplish and actually never thought it possible, but I still like to use this pictures "larger then life" viewpoint. so, I am now in the second half of my planetarium jurney "if you make it, they will come" and with Covid winding down they are indeed starting to come again which makes this second half of presenting as much fun as the first half of building.
