Posted by: mrgare5050 Jul 21 2011, 10:17 AM I'm all about brute forcing illusions where necessary, and one daunting task has been to surround my projected sky with that truly dark star filled effect. Rather than try to accurately drill 6th magnitude stars however, I'm experimenting with a Background Star Projector, which will simply put subliminal faint stars superimposed over my constellations. It wont of course move when the projector moves, this is still experimental. Heres my first attempt, one of those vinyl christmas spheres painted and pinpricked with bunches of little stars. So far the green LED gives the best effect, the stars arent green but they are dimly guessed more so than white or other colors. The last picture shows I havent completely painted the sphere and light is showing thru, but possibly some other effect might be possible in this way. Ive got it mounted for now on a 'cage' in from of my projector stand. I'll post more here if this idea goes any further.

Posted by: Ron Walker Sep 4 2020, 03:06 PM Well, you know me, if it's not accurate I will pass on comment as it is more like projecting artie images then a true sky.

Well I'm the only one on average that ever does (the lurkers out there never post) so I would think you would expect an answer from me. But then I'm here so you don't feel all alone out there.

That could be true. At times there are so many posts to answer that I can't do them at one time and plan to come back to them. The problem is that once I leave the forum all of the "new posts" disappear and only if I go into each thread will I find a unanswered post.
