What's in a name?
I was thinking of calling this new forum OC, not in any way "Observatory Central" but with a certain respect that the tag OC deserves. So it could be "Our Cosmos" and that would fit right in. But "Planetariums As A Hobby" was the original planetarium area name so it should probably prevail. As time progresses I will try (bit by bit) to reproduce some of the material that once existed on OC but want to have a location for new material to accumulate and to talk with new and old friends.
So welcome to the new/old planetariums as a hobby

Sorry for the hoops, but one of the problem with the old board was keeping up with people trying to sell gym shoes and other such junk. Also to get an idea as to how many are truly interested in the resurrection of this old forum. If anyone wants a special section just say the word. I will rebuild the original listings as time (and my understanding permits). I made this jump because Albert in Germany sent me some great material on some new saved projectors but was not very hot on posting on Facebook. Also as many of you know I really like the idea of a BB (bulletin board) type of forum in keeping various threads and ideas in one place and easy to find. Over the 15 years that the original forum a lot of information on a lot of topics were contained within. While certainly not anything like the great library in Alexandria, my hope is to bring back OC as a place to find information and perhaps get questions answered. I certainly hope you will all join me in this quest.

Wow- love the new title page photo! Is that your Minolta Ron? Guilty. I thought it would be nice to see something that said "planetarium" other then just a picture of a machine or a star field. Looking forward to a thread of your new machine, especially some nice close up pictures of the planet projectors and the gearing.

Ron- It has just occurred to me - what is the story behind chainmail in your profile picture? Is it real? It is cool.

Ron- It has just occurred to me - what is the story behind chainmail in your profile picture? Is it real? It is cool. I'm trying to get people to call me Sir Ron or Sir Walker but it's not working. No seriously, I was at a party some years ago and someone had a headpiece which everyone tried on. (Before the days of The Covid). Someone took a picture and posted it and it received a substantial number of comments. I started using the picture and one Christmas was presented with my own by my daughter. That is when this picture was taken. I imagine it is "real" as it weighs a substantial amount. While certainly not an original it is not a plastic facsimile. I must admit it presents me in a "new light" when I go out to private parties and works well with a Hawaiian shirt. It certainly is a conversation starter.

I actually thought your picture was the Grail Knight from the 3rd Indiana Jones picture! Hey do you have Moons address, i could send him a book. I have it around somewhere unless he's moved. Attachments:

I do often say, "You have chosen wisely". Perhaps I should use it and the line when people come to a show.

ONLY if you wear the chain mail though for effect. Great for Halloween
